The Toyota Land Cruiser is an icon of automotive manufacturing. This illustrious off-road vehicle was developed by the Japanese company Toyota Motor Corporation in the 1950s.

It is in fact the most long-lived product of its type produced by the company of the "rising sun". It has continuously evolved by way of design, engine capability and other technological features that have been progressively introduced to the series.

Amongst the more better known and recognisable models is the "J-40" series, produced from the 1960s through to the 1980s. Characterized particularly by a classic and conservative design, it was acclaimed by the sector for its sturdiness and reliability. The J-40 was available in three “wheelbases”: short, medium (such as the J-44 which achieved great commercial success) and long.

Fitted with either a Diesel or Petrol engine depending on the market requirement, it could also be supplied "full body" or "pick up" to meet customer needs.
